Affiliate Marketing Setup

Get your affiliate program launched on a proven network with tracking, creative, and everything you need to start driving sales through partners.

What You Get

This is a one-time setup package to get your affiliate program running. You’ll be set up on one affiliate network (like ShareASale, CJ, or LinkShare), with tracking installed on your shopping cart and basic creative ready for affiliates to use.

You get access to the BMG affiliate dashboard where you can see sales activity, approve new affiliates, and track performance. We handle the technical setup so you can focus on recruiting partners and growing sales.

Why Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is paying for results. You work with bloggers, content sites, coupon platforms, and influencers who promote your products. When they send a customer who buys, you pay them a commission. No sale, no payment.

It’s performance-based. The risk is lower than traditional advertising because you’re only paying out when revenue comes in.

How It Works

  1. We set you up on one affiliate network (ShareASale, CJ, LinkConnector, etc.).
  2. We create two text links based on your products and install tracking code on your checkout page.
  3. We write welcome and approval/decline messages for new affiliates.
  4. You approve or reject affiliate applications through your dashboard.
  5. Affiliates promote your products. When they drive a sale, the network tracks it and attributes commission.
  6. You validate sales at month-end and pay out commissions through the network.

You only pay affiliates for sales you’ve already collected payment on. You validate or cancel transactions before commissions go out.

Common questions.

Affiliate marketing is paying a commission to third parties (affiliates) who drive sales or leads to your site. They promote your products on their blogs, coupon sites, social feeds, etc. When someone clicks their link and buys from you, they earn a percentage of that sale.

You’re paying for results. No sale, no commission. It’s lower-risk than traditional advertising because you only pay out after you’ve already collected revenue from the customer.

Affiliates can be individual bloggers, influencers, or companies. Common types:

They get paid per sale or per lead, depending on how you structure your program. All payments go through the affiliate network, which acts as the middleman.

Affiliate networks (like ShareASale or CJ) are platforms that connect you with affiliates. They host your creative (banners, links), handle all tracking via cookies, generate reports, and process commission payments.

The network tracks a customer’s path from the affiliate’s site to your checkout page. If the customer buys, the network attributes the sale to the affiliate and calculates the commission based on your program rules.

You could run an affiliate program independently, but networks make it easier. They provide the infrastructure, the affiliate pool, and the trust layer between you and your partners.

We work with ShareASale, CJ, LinkShare, LinkConnector, Pepperjam, Admitad, Clixgalore, and Commission Factory. We’ll recommend the best one based on your product category and where your target affiliates are active.

This package includes two text links. Banners help, especially if you want affiliates to place visual ads on their sites. Text links work well for content sites and blogs where contextual links perform better.

If you want a full set of banner creatives in multiple sizes, that’s a separate project. We can quote that separately.

Commission structure depends on:

We’ll help you figure out a commission rate that attracts affiliates but still makes sense for your business. Affiliates compare programs, so if your rate is too low compared to competitors, they’ll promote someone else.

At the end of each month, you’ll see a list of sales in your dashboard. You validate or cancel each one (cancel if the order was refunded, never paid, etc.). Once you validate, the network processes commission payments to affiliates.

You’re only paying for sales you’ve actually collected money on. You approve first, then the network pays out.

The tracking code is a small script that goes on your checkout confirmation page (the “thank you” page after someone completes an order). It passes the order ID and sale amount to the network so the sale can be attributed to the affiliate who sent the customer.

It’s a simple install. We’ll provide the code and instructions. Your developer drops it on the confirmation page and passes two parameters: order ID and order total.

A cookie is a small file saved on the customer’s device when they click an affiliate link. It tracks that customer for a set period (the cookie duration).

If your cookie duration is 30 days and someone clicks an affiliate link today but doesn’t buy until 20 days later, the affiliate still gets credit for that sale. If they buy on day 35, the cookie has expired and the affiliate gets nothing.

Longer cookie durations are more attractive to affiliates. Standard is 30 days. Some programs go 60 or 90 days.

Once the tracking code is live and your program is set up on the network, you’re ready. Affiliates can start applying to your program immediately. You approve or decline them through your dashboard.

We handle the technical setup. You handle affiliate recruitment and approval. If you want help recruiting affiliates, that’s a separate ongoing service.

You work with me. Any questions about your affiliate program, dashboard, or network setup come through me. Campaign reports go to you through the dashboard. If something technical breaks, I loop in the team to fix it.
